DragQueen Anchor Alarm App Reviews

Great App.

Saved me some nights awake on watch. Really like that app. Works great on 4S. GPS data on the 3GS are a bit shakey with some false alarms.

iPod Touch Gen 5 problem

Used the app with success and to good effect on my iPhone 4. On new iPod Touch, app seems to have problem with GPS. The "Set" button is quickly replaced with "GPS Not Responding" message. Hence, cannot set location and app is not usable.

Almost useless

If you close the app it loses saved position.

Never worked right

Maybe its my phone but this has never worked. Deleted and reinstalled. Sometimes the alarm goes off without even moving. Then I reset it and walked 400 feet with it set to 50. Never went off. Too bad because I love AC.

Easy to use anchor alarm

This free app actually offers much more that just an anchor alarm in that it give you useful GPS information as you move around whether or not you are using it as intended. But as a anchor alarm it is easy to use, offers full instructions, and customization to fit your needs. i have been waiting for such an app and am pleased that it is offered for all to us.

Anchors away

What a sweet simple app. Been waiting for one like this for some time. Just cant beat the price either. Using it on my iPad 2 and it looks and works great. Mark

Great app.

Finally a good anchor alarm with easy simple directions. Well done JS.

Simple is good

Having cruised from Newport to Key West, I wish apps like this were available then. Too cold to try on the Chesapeake in the winter, but I tested in the yard and worked great. You want simple for an anchor alarm. Good job!!!

Effective, Easy to use

Great App. As I havent dragged at anchor since installing this App I cant say how effectively it will wake me up, but by setting the alarm distance very tight have tested it many times and it works great. Jeffs software skills have added much to my enjoyment of boating. Thanks!

I love it

In a quick test it worked really well inside my house. Many thanks for this tool and the delightful app name! Wait until the guys at Cherry Grove hear about this one!

Does not work for me.

Shows that my anchor is dragging when sitting on my kitchen table at home.

Wont run in background

Concept is great, execution is simple and clean. But, it wont run in the background!!! Drop anchor turn it on... get a text, want to check weather, take a photo of the sunset... no longer running! To me, that makes it useless.

Useless shows dragging while at dock

Used this at anchor set at 80ft went off 3 times had me worried all night. Tried it at my slip and showed me dragging over 300ft. Also wont run in background so runs battery down FAST!! Would be nice app if it worked.

No good

It DOES NOT run in the back ground. So its useless!!

Alarm doesnt go off!!

Moved a bit, alarm should have gone off. Got nothing. Even left it on in the foreground. The app is simple and well done so 2 stars until it actually alerts me to a dragged anchor.

A must have for boaters who anchor overnight

I just returned from another month long trip in the Bahamas out of which all but 2 nights were on the hook and used Dragqueen every night. Two words: it works Indeed the previous version had an issue where it would occasionally shut down in certain conditions but the new one works perfectly. The key is to set the alarm point for the conditions you are in depending on scope, nearby boats or obstacle. Fir instance when in areas where current reverses with tides and space is limited (in Bahamians cuts or in ICW tidal creeks) I always set it tight to be alerted when the current switches. iPhone GPS reception is good enough to use it below deck

Great app!

If you want to sleep better at anchor, use this app. Installed on the iPhone, and carried to the V-berth, it saves me getting up and doing the 360 scan during the nite. Works great! Love it!

Great app. A must for boaters

So much more accurate and dependable than other anchor alarms.

Suddenly went nuts!

Firstly, I have to say its a great app, started out fine, and matched my Garmin GPSs distance to anchor within 3 ft. However... At about 3am, the wind shifted about 90o, and suddenly the alarm went off (nice and LOUD too!) It said the anchor had gone from 60ft to over 120ft distance, which it hadnt, thank god. Seems just a small bug somewhere in the calculation, when the wind was in the same direction, it was perfect.

Latest version seems to forget its settings

If it is not left forward with the alarm activated it will forget the GPS location and an other alarm settings.
